Introspective Dynamic Progressive Avant-Garde Thrash Metal details

Aside from the clean vocals, this album is great! A step-up in all directions from the band except for the vocals lol

The band drops a lot of their "metal clichés," here from an instrumental point of view (though lyrically they still could mature a bit more). What we have is a style that suits the band's more more chaotic side better than what their "radio metal" past ever could. They're definitely going all out and doing what they want and the result is a very fun album that just simply works. Especially the G.O.D suite.

I need to listen further for a more comprehensive evaluation. These are my first thoughts on a first listen.

Uncanny Technical Progressive Metal details

This has become my favorite Haken release. It used to be Mountain, but now I prefer Virus by a very narrow margin. Everything falls into place on this album, it's just insanely good.

Progressive Avant-Garde Thrash Metal details

This was an interesting listening experience. I like it! AS have now fully embraced the Avant-Garde. The album doesn't fully convince me, at least not after the first listen. The vocals feel strangely out of place (like they're not really part of the mix), and the clean vocals are a bit thin overall, compared to other avant-garde releases.

Overall it seems a little haphazard, although the "GOD suite" that closes the album makes up for the preceding songs somewhat - I really liked it.

Heavy Progressive Rock details

If you right now are searching for a typical new reference album standing for the term Progressive Rock, there you are. Partially heavy, partially symphonic, 'Rite Of Kassandra' covers diverse styles, and a flow that won't let go of you anytime soon.

Mellow Modern Blues details

My favorite Scott Henderson album, hands down. More blues, less fusion on this one, at least compared to his other solo albums and the Tribal Tech stuff (which I also love).

This is probably my most favorite Scott Henderson track. Glorious blues, two gorgious solos that showcase his incredible sense for melody and harmony, fusing them in a way which few guitarists can. Hendrix and EVH could, in their own unique way, and so does Scott. Awesome.

Thoughtful Post Punk details

This has a distinct punk attitude that I don't remember from the Paramore albums of the 2000s, which had been my first and only encounter with the band until today. The music is quite sophisticated and thoughtful, given the punk slant, and I even see some prog (think Art Rock) ambitions. Nice!

Heavy Prog AOR details

Progressive in the true sense of the word. Round about one hour of splendid heavy prog with metal leanings from the States. This third album comes like a surprise, because the recent one saw the light of day already a while ago in 2001. I really appreciate the quartet's tricky and powerful presence throughout.

Heavy Neo Progressive Rock details

Guitarist Germán Vergara describes it as a 'record of crisis, but also of inspiring moments'. Album and track titles are anticipating some time of unrest. For sure a significant change concerning the line up, singer Israel Gil substituted Sebastian Vergara some years ago. Fabulous implementation regarding all instruments. There's so much potential available to survive, demonstrated with the recent two albums.

Energetic Symphonic Prog Retro Rock details

Arjen has done it again. A glorious hommage to the 60s/70s, in the typical Ayreon style. Amazing guitar work by Timo Somers, as Arjen plays bass on this album.

The opener (The Glamattack) is not the high point of the album, something that put me down initially when it came out. Keep on listening, and the album will draw you in!

Progressive

This is an interesting experiment - largely improvised, with a made up language for the "lyrics", quite experimental. The timing is sloppy in places, ruining it for me especially for this type of music.
